...happened? It seems that the finger point game is so popular in the Philippines. Something bad happens blame someone else. You don't have food, its the cow's fault. The Philippines is poor, its the dwarf's fault.

Can we change? Do we still have the power to change our attitudes?

Yes. 95% is the pinoy are blamers. It could be corrected by adding to school curriculum subject of Ethics. Filpinos really lack moral values. What they know about moral values is violation of marriage which is wrong. there are other areas we can apply moral values like consideration with others. I am pinay but sorry to tell.

I disagree with your premise. At least not with me and most of my relatives and friends. Some people behaving this way does not make it part of Philippine culture. In fact, the same thing can be observed with people of other nations. It is sometimes a knee-jerk human reaction, not cultural.

Probably the way our Filipino culture is presented to us in a different prospective. Not only Filipino blame someone instead of himself or herself for the blunder, Filipinos hardly admit we sin. Look at our politician with so much scandalous episodes. The President said "I am sorry.." for the call to a comelec commissioner, 2004 election. On other issues like ZTE scandal and other corruption, they never done it according to them.

WHILE IN JAPAN, Japanese public officials resigned immediately before the scandal hit the newspaper, and some Japanese even killed themselves Harakiri style if they think they made a terrible mistake. Would a Filipino make a Harakiri? I don't think so, maybe he or she will just make Kikoman soup or something for a breakfast or lunch. I have seen on one newsreport of a Japanese official giving a press audience and apologizing on air and crying for the mistakes he obviously done for the government and resigning.

Have we seen a Philippine government official who resigned because of scandalous episode in the government? I have never seen one yet, have you? For one the official will vehemently DENIES it and point a finger to one person under his own directives. It is part of our culture, either live with it or some how change it if we can. At least it must start from us.

I doubt if we still can change the status quo of the Philippine culture. Even Fr. Bernas who is considered an expert on Philippines constitution and part of the group who made the 1987 constitution made a gesture that to change the Philippines you have to drop A NUCLEAR BOMB between the 3 island we have Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. So drop the nuke between these islands and perhaps we could change the Philippines after. We both have the same theory. What do you think?

playing the blame game is as universal as hate (or love). We, as Filipinos are highly prone to wanting to get all the credit and slinging mud to our enemies and even friends when something "bad" happens. (esp. "Bulok-Rats!" both in the private and state/government sector )

We can change, we just need to prioritize making good habits instead of letting our bad sides thrive.
