Is it a big deal if a person who is part black misses out on the black culture?

My brother is part black and am just wondering if there is all that big of a deal if a person isn't all that familiar with that culture? I mean I am an eighth cherokee and never have known much about htat culture and don't really feel the need to. Is this the same thing or not?

I would say this if he feels at all alienated around either culture he should then check it out a little, otherwise there is going to come a time where he wished he had. also an 8th of anything is'nt no where near the same as 1/2 white 1/2 black,(would'nt you agree).

well i am half african american and half Caucasian, and i really dont embrace my ''black heritage''. i dont even really act black i guess you could say. but i dont think i am missing out on anything

I don't know what you mean by "part Black", but if he has a Black parent and knows nothing of that family, then it's wrong. As far as Black culture, I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Everyone, regardless of race, should know about Black history.
