Technically yes, as the state has provided the means for you to enjoy reading, paid for by taxes which everyone has to contribute, and if the state provided your education, that's socialism too.Too often it's defined as a dirty word in the U.S. because thats what they want you to think. There's a world of difference between having a few socialist policies and living in a purely socialist state.I live in the UK, a capitalist country that is able to provide health care for all and a state pension, by the payment of national insurance contributions. I still have the option to take private health care or personal pension plan if I want to. Doesn't mean I'm goose-stepping under a red flag.Thumbing me down doesn't change facts. Personally I'm glad I live in a country that can provide health care for all, instead of just for a lucky few that can afford it. I do hope the tumb-downers never get stricken by an illness that prevents them from ever working again. Otherwise, in their purely captialist ideal, they'd be left to die in the street.
