I went to the Naval Academy graduation yesterday. Biden was the guest speaker.

Now, I know NOTHING about Biden. I was driving to the graduation thinking about the choice of Biden and wondering why exactly Obama wasn't doing it. Of course, if one looks at the Memorial Day media of Obama's weekend it doesn't appear he is doing any of the military academies.

I thought about it and decided it wasn't anything worthy of worrying about. I detest Obama and I don't think I could have given a speech by him a fair shake. At least with Biden I could have an open mind. There are advantages to be completely clueless about an individual.

And having heard his speech....

I am impressed. I am truly impressed.
I am kind of of the mindset that politicians are self serving assholes. What I expected was some asshole to get up on stage and drone on for 40 minutes about why we are lucky to have him and Obama in office and why supporting his pet projects would be a good thing.

What I (well *we*) got was a speech that was directed and aimed like a laser at those graduates. He was personable and a bit humorous. The vast majority of the speech was about the people that have sat in those seats before those graduates, the things they can hope to accomplish and (I was shocked to see this coming from the 'America Last' liberal side of the political spectrum) how the US Navy is the greatest naval force the world has ever seen.

I was very, very impressed. I now know nothing about the guy EXCEPT having seen him at the Naval Academy graduation. But he has earned good marks from me. If the guy can ever get himself unglued from Obama's ass I think I could actually consider him as a politician with something of an open mind.

Tellin' people what they want to hear...a must for any politician.

Read up on the truth about his "drunk driver" story, then get back to me.

He's shit, plain and simple.

I did a quick google.

So the guy lost a wife and baby to a trucker - whom was not intoxicated, but has told the story twice in public saying the driver (who is now deceased) was a DUI?

That is fucking weird.

Google is your friend, bro.

IIRC, the crash wasn't even his fault. She failed to yield right-of-way.

A woman and child lose their lives, and his first thought is to milk it for all it's worth. Fucking garbage.

So Stilgar was an idiot before the speech and left even more stupid.

Reality check, all politicians are masters of deception and have good interpersonal skills (especially those in the higher ranks).

Basing on his unfounded hatred for Obama, I am guessing is a big idiot.

Political sympathy points. Biden is on record, multiple times, referring to his family's death by the hand of a "drunk driver" who "sideswiped" the car.

Even though no evidence exists to support his contention. And the person who investigated the crash refutes Biden's story.

Are you trying to somehow excuse this? The [attempted] railroading and [successful] slander of an innocent man for political gain? You should probably steer clear of all [adult] political discussion from now on.

Indeed. It is so tough to find out about the Vice President. I mean we have the television, the radio, the internet....

I would argue that the only way to know almost nothing about the guy is through willful ignorance.

ya i'll just assume that if i'm going to hear a speech from a high level politician from an administration that i'm not sure why i don't like that the guy will ramble on about how good he and his administration is.

I can have someone write me a pretty speech to give to the naval acadamy too. Doesn't mean I'd actually give a shit.

You don't get it. It has nothing to do with politics. You make it sound like it was some conscious political decision. "Well, maybe I should say he was drinking. That'll get me elected." How fucking.. mean and hateful do you have to be to believe this?

A grieving father and husband will believe what he wants to believe, an attempt to make sense of a horrific tragedy.

Believe? He has outright lied about this on numerous occasions. Even after the facts of the crash were well-known, he made a conscious effort to slander the name of an innocent truck driver.

I could see, in shock, a husband/father thinking & saying such a thing, but decades later? Bullshit.

How mean and hateful did HE have to be to make this driver go to the grave marked unjustly as careless/negligent? What is so wrong with acknowledging that his wife made an error while driving, and it caused a crash?

How can you give this guy a pass? If it were an asshole like Dick Cheney in Biden's place, would you give him the same benefit of a doubt?

If the answer is "no", you are a hopeless sackrider.

You're still missing the point. Your baseless allegation was that he consciously lied about the crash to gain from it politically. You haven't backed that up, and you can't back that up. And you're a bad person because of it.

If it were Dick Cheney, I still wouldn't give a fuck because his family died in a horrific car accident.

Then why lie about it decades after the fact? Implicating an innocent man, slandering him intentionally? The man was "haunted for the rest of his life" by Biden's public lies.

And I'm the "bad person"? Man, you are warped.
