Is a Kawasaki 250r sportbike too weak for a beginner at the track?

I'm looking for a beginner track bike and I've never ridden a motorcycle before, so I'm thinking 250r. I want to ride almost EXCLUSIVELY at the track, just as a hobby/sport. I'm not looking to become a famous racer or anything like that. I want to push that bike as far as it will go, improve my technique as much as possible, and just enjoy myself. Later, when I'm confident with my technique and handling I'll move up to higher cc's and go for speed. Or do you suggest that since I'm only using the bike at the track (rarely in the street, so it's safer), I should start off with a 600cc or higher for my first bike?

By the way, I'm limiting bike riding to TRACK ONLY due to safety concerns. I know everything in life has risks, but I have a car so I might as well use it to commute and thus lower my overall risk for getting in a serious injury.

The new 250R is a cracking little bike on the track.

This months P.B magazine did a test with one and loved it.

They did recommend to ditch the O.E rubber and fit Dunlop Alpha 10 instead.
