Is a 1978 scottsdale silverado still able to play songs from my ipod via an ipod car

jack thing? ive heard of an ipod car jack where you plug ur ipod in and the jack into the car outlet, and then you tune your car radio to like 55 or something and it plays the songs that are playing on your ipod. Will my 78 silverado truck be able to play songs on my ipod via this car jack thing?
