Iron Man

I'm really looking foward to Iron Man and I've got my tics booked for Sunday night. It just a shame though that the start of the blockbuster season means the end of indie films until September time.

I saw the Rotten Tomatoes rating and 94% is bloody impressive. But you have to pay attention to the detail thought. Everyone likes it, but points out that it does have some biggish flaws. Probably more apt would be the 7.4/10 average rating.

Still can't wait thought!!!

Iron Man, such a great movie. Highly recommended!

If it wasn't for the pedigree of Robert Downey Jn in the lead role there's no way it would have been as successful.

Can't see how TDK could be a 12a, just on the evidence of the trailer it's got to be a 15 hasn't it? it looks properly disturbing to me.

Anyway I saw Ironman yesterday and thought it was great, up there with HellBoy and Batman Begins in my top 3 of best Comic Book films I'd say (at number 3 mind you, it's nowhere near being better than the other 2),

Although I'm not a comic book fan in the slightest, the subjects make for great cinema when done well (unlike the Spiderman series which I can't bare), I've always liked whatever I've seen of John Favreau's films and he seems to have made the transition to big budget very well indeed.

Yes but it will probably have little or no swearing and sex, and generally 'comic book' violence which in the BBFC's eyes makes a 12a these days. 12a is more commercially viable than 15 for a blockbuster.
I couldn''t believe the number of infants who were at the Iron Man screening I went to. The ambush at the start is hardly kid friendly.

The BBFC have tried 12a, and it has failed IMO. The British public had their shot, and many have repeatedly demonstrated themselves irresponsible actually to look into 12a films before bringing their small children to them. The BBFC neeRAB to should just scrap it and bring back 12 to cinemas.

EDIT: Actually, this is a thread of its own IMO. I'll go start one rather than hijack the Iron Man thread.

Just to add my two cents - loved it! Knew RDJ wouldn't disappoint me! It just cries out for a sequel! Even my bessie mate (usually a v. harsh movie critic) said she really enjoyed it! Result!

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would but as far as sequels go, I fear there's only so much mileage they can get out of a man in a suit flying, punching people through walls and shooting stuff. It could get old soon.
The final fight was highly remniscent of Robocop 2 but thankfully half as long

I wasnt initally interested in this film as I'd thought we had seen everything superhero movies had to offer, but Im seeing some very good reviews of this film. I may have to see it after all :D

IMO I tought this was the best film i've seen all year and is the best Marvel film so far (excluding Batman Begins by DC, that is the best comicbook movie for me).

Iron Man as a whole was really refreshing to the comic book to screen films, the content of technology was perfect for the many uses of CGI and the acting was very good from all, in particular Robert Downey JR who really carried Stark brilliantly.
And Iron Man himself was just awesome, his weapons, his capabilites, his look. Really looking forward to the sequel.

Finally got to see this last night on DVD. Have to say, though I am a fan of comic book movies (sorry), I don't know what I expected. Like Daredevil, I loved this character as a kid and thought he was way cooler than Spidey, but never seemed to inspire the crowRAB as much.

That's changed though hasn't it? Bloody hell, what a great movie. Way better for me than any of the Spider-man films. It's a testament to it that after two hours I wanted more, and even the missus who usually doesn't care for my geeky crap absolutely loved it too. I seriously hope they pull it out of the bag again for the sequel. I cannot wait. Hats off to Downey Jr and especially Jon Favreau for such tremendous work. Pacy, cool and simply terrific entertainment.

I've managed to talk the missus into watching Incredible Hulk tonight with me off the back of it. Hope it doesn't spoil the party! I haven't seen it before, and though I liked the Ang Lee version it really was lacking in the Hulk department.

But I digress. Iron Man - absolutely brilliant! :D

I really enjoyed it, despite only going along to please the OH, but can someone tell me, near the start when they are explaining Stark's history, on a magazine cover did it say "Stark takes reigns at 21"? Was this just bad spelling or was there some pun that's way over my head? sorry to be anal but I need to know!;)

I was impressed with it - RDJr was a brilliant bit of casting & played a great character. My only complaint was that it descended into standard cliched superhero-bad-guy-fight-drivel in the last 15 minutes or so.
