Hello All,
I'm basically at my wits end, so I am going to be as detailed as possible about this itchiness because I don't know what is related or not.
It began early April. I had a very bad yeast infection. I treated it with Monistat 3 and it seemed to go away. Two days later, it was back. I went and saw an OBGYN and she gave me Diflucan. The symptoms cleared up and then occurred again a week later. Again, I went on Diflucan and again it cleared up and came back. My third dose of Diflucan was split up into three doses separated by a few days each. It was after the first pill in this series that I began to itch. It began on my thighs, but quickly went EVERYWHERE! I called my primary physician and he prescribed me terazole cream. The yeast infection went away, the itching all over did not.
I stopped taking all medications at this point besides my birth control pills. By June, I was still itching so I made an appointment with my doctor. He did all sorts of blood test (LFT, CBC, ect.). All these came back negative so I got an allergy test. My food allergies came back negative, but I had all sorts of respiratory allergies (hayfever, ragweed, trees, dogs, dust, ect.). I was sent to an allergist who said I have dermatographism and he prescribed me Allegra (180mg once daily). The Allegra had no effect on my itching. Neither did claritin, benadryl, or atarax. However, he bumped up my Allegra to two pills a day and atarax every 4-6 hours as needed. It has been a few weeks now and still there are no changes!!!
I read that itching skin could be a symptom of a systemic yeast infection (I have had another mild one since the first was finally cleared up), but I am not sure. My doctor claims it is allergy related. HELP ME!!! I was going to do the yeast free diet, but I had nothing to eat and it was so hard! I am so sick of itching, so I am looking forward to what you all have to say.
ANother point, I have no rashes, dry skin, or anything. Sometimes I do notice very small raised flesh colored bumps together near where I begin to itch, but not always.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
