I have a 2008 1098. Trying to get insurance on the beauty, but ALL of the major companies want around EIGHT THOUSAND a year!? No accidents, no tickets, AMA/military/safety course discounts included. I AM 20 years old, but my dad tried doing the same with the same results. Somebody PLEASE push me in the right direction. I can't afford 8k, but I can certainly afford what a lot of you guys are paying. Thanks!

Are you in NYC? If so that's the going rate. You need to go and register it in another address, I got a $8000 rate also and then just changed the registration to my Upstate address. I pay $1350 a year for 100k/300k with towing and pedestrian coverage.

Man what a variance in rates. That $7000 just screams effff yooouuu. Some of the ins companies will give deductions for formal training and proof that the bike is stored in a secure location if you prove it to them. Also if you can prove that it's not ridden and parked in a theft prone location for work that's a plus.

The rates seemingly all revolve around the geographic location. I'm sure age has a bearing but I've been paying $300 something for the duc since it was new in 02. Full coverage, high liability (which won't add much to the premium) and a $500 DD. Progressive.

Everything else, bikes, cars, house is on American Family. AmFam won't touch any Duc but does insure my kids RC51. Go figure. Goldwing $250, wife's 450 $67 and yes that's per year.

Drill, where in hell are you located to get rate quotes like that....

Your just too young. Period, doesn't matter your MSF course or whatever put it in your dads name. I was like 8gs put it dads name its now actually $352.00

i think i need to check for a new insurance co. progressive full coverage was $3100/yr. Right now im carrying liability for $300/yr. or 20 something a month. its the winter so im safe.
im going to try and check on state farm tommorow.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I looked into it and found that the best by FAR was Dairyland. It came out to $180/month for BOTH my 1098 and my dad's Triumph Rocket III Touring. Amazingly great rate. From $742/month for my bike alone to 180 for both barely makes sense, but it's full coverage and 100% legit. Anyone seeking bike insurance, especially those with multiple bikes, should definitely look into Dairyland.

Wonder if they are in Canada...I'm paying 7K a year. No accidents ever, 40 years old, couple of speeding tickets (like 20 over) in the 80s. But my license expired and I don't drive a car at all so I am treated as a newbie under graduated licensing for insurance purposes. Hopefully in two years my rates will be dramatically lower.
