Insurance and Track Days

Check the verbiage in your policy. It probably says something to the extent of "will not cover losses occurring during competition or speed exhibition, blah blah".

Now if it's a "rider improvement course" you should be OK.

Well, I guess that a track day could be considered as a "rider improvement" training, correct?
There is no real racing allowed anyway.

maky,

Ask yourself this: If you sold motorcycle insurance, would you insure motorcycles being used for track days at no extra cost? The answer, obviously, is, "no."

Unless you're paying extra for track insurance, (which I've never heard of, but I'm sure somebody would underwrite if you were willing to pay enough), chances are you're regular street policy is not going to cover damage or liability incurred at the track. I've heard people say that some policies allow you to track your bike, but I"ve never seen one of those polices, nor have I ever heard of anybody, (honestly), collecting on their insurance policy after wrecking their bike at the track.

IMO, the best insurance policy you can get for the track is a set of sharkskinz.

If you're willing to lie and cheat, you can usually get your bike covered (minus the deductible) at a track event. You just need to fill out a report stating you were riding somewhere else... so lying just a bit. I know many people who've gotten away with it, so it can be done...

Best insurance at the race track; learn how to ride better... Don't take stupid chances, its just a track day!

Of course, a decent set of aftermarket fairings and frame sliders, don't hurt either!
