Your speakers are not working because you either have wired something wrong, or you indeed have a factory amplifier inside your Jeep.

Most factory amplifiers are found inside the paneling on the vehicle, but sometimes are located under the seats and in the dash as well.

There is no need to run new wires, or buy a special new harness for them to work. Simply find the factory amplifier, and bypass it. That simple.

All you need to do this, are some wire cutters, PVC Butt Connectors (18-22), a wire stripper and a crimper for the PVC Butt Connectors and about 20 min of your time.

If you indeed have a factory amp in your GC then you'll need a special wiring harness in order to make your factory amp work. Look for a wiring harness for 98 Grand Cherokee's with premium sound. They are different from the ones used by the radios with regular stereo systems. Check out your local stereo shop or crutchfield.com. Good luck.

if all you are doing is replacing the factory head unit all you have to do is hook up the blue/white from the aftermarket deck to the blue wire on the wiring harness. this turns the amp on for sound.
