ok im getting my first system installed and doing it myself with help. i have a 2 channel 500 watt phoenix gold amp and an 12 in 4 ohm Orion xtr pro sub. how do i wire the sub to the sub box that has only one positive and negative port, to the amp and run it from 4 ohm to 4 ohm load to get the full 500 watts?

sounds like your trying to bridge the amp. glad you have an interest in it. not all amps are the same. your going to have to play around with the connections for the speakers. get your amp wired in and producing sound. once evrything is working normal start experimenting with the speaker wires going from the amp to the sub. you have two channels so two positive and two negative terminals. not all amps bridge the same so start with the right side hooking the speaker up as it should be. then move it to the left terminals. if it sounds alot louder one of those ways then it's bridged. if not, run the positive wire to the positive terminal on the right terminal and the negative wire to the negative terminal on the left. then opposite. positive on left and negative right. one of those ways will make it bridged. you will DEFINATELY notice the sound difference once it happens. hope this helps. good luck
