Inflamed Lymph Nodes...?

I have a bulge in the upper left part of my neck, just below the base of my skull. I have had it there for over a year.

In the last few months I developed a slight raised area on my right breast. Now the skin there is raised enough to call it a bump or a bulge, and it hurts when I press on it.

Are both of these "bulges" in the lymph node areas?

Bill,

On someone else's post you asked about my interest in lymes...I will answer you here so as not to hijack someone else's thread/topic.

My interest in Lyme is quite long and involved but for the sake of brevity I will say:

1. I live in a high risk state which (from what I can gather) has been more proactive than other areas of the country educating professionals and the public about lyme. It is not uncommon for a doctor here to consider lyme when other conditions have been screened for and show little/nothing.

2. I have reason to believe that I knew personally some of the first people in the country diagnosed with this condition, and from their experience I am aware of the devastating damage that can occur when Lyme goes untreated. So I do what I can to make others aware of this condition because permenant damage can be prevented if treated soon enough!!

3. The side effects that I experienced with blood pressure medication affected many of my body systems...weakness, dizziness, fainting, visual disturbances, problems with balance, nutritional deficiencies, sleep problems, restless legs, mood problems, memory problems, respiratory attacks, the list goes on and on and on...so in the past 2 years I've been reading the boards trying to find answers to my own issues. But in doing so, I've also seen patterns/themes emerging from some of the regular posters.

I am far from an expert...not even an amateur...but hopefully I can make others aware of possibilities they may not have considered.

And as far as my symptoms go, they disappeared entirely within 24 hours-6 weeks after I stopped taking the offending medication.

Before I go, I would just like to say several things...

1. These boards contain a wealth of information...some is accurate, some is not. Consider the suggestions but do your own homework! Do not believe ANYTHING you read here without checking it out for yourself. Although in one post you questioned your intelligence, I do not!!! You underestimate your abilities based on what I've read of your posts.

2. Keep an open mind...even though you may get a diagnoses of "whatever", it may not be the correct diagnosis. Many people on these boards spend alot of time and money treating the symptoms, because they (and their doctors) don't look further for the cure.

3. Doctors don't know everything...and even if they do, they make mistakes.

Well, I've gone on too long. Again, I wish you the very, very best!

Thanks for your response...

It's interesting you mention getting all those side effects from blood pressure medication. I've been on an SSRI for years and often wonder if my symptoms could be related to that..

That is certainly possible, but given the types of symptoms you are describing, I doubt that all would account for side effects. And do keep in mind that one of the symptoms for lyme is depression and anxiety...did you experience the symptoms necessitating the SSRI before you were bitten by the tick?

Best wishes.

Oh, I definitely did.

But I'm pretty sure the tick was removed before 36 hours (possibly before 24 hours) and that it hadn't "dug in" much. Nor do I remember an illness or a rash following that. So I remain skeptical.

I do live in Pennsylvania tho, which I think is a high risk state.

You might want to do some more reading...you may have some misconceptions about how long it takes for a bite to become infected. There is conflicting info out there...

It's possible that you contacted the disease before being by the tick you remember. Once diagnosed, some people recall having symptoms "forever". Lyme has been known to infect the fetuses of pregnant women so some children are born with Lyme.

Bill, you don't know what you have and neither do I. But since you have many symptoms, some of which are quite serious, don't you think you need to get to the bottom of this? Unlike many other conditions, treating Lyme symptoms with antibiotics can alleviate or cure the disease...but left untreated, permanant damage and in rare cases death can occur. Are you willing to take that chance?

I know you don't have health insurance but there are ways of getting help. I've got nothing more to say except, "Good luck!"

Have you provided other users with this kind of "action needed" post before?

This tends to happen to me because things can take me forever to get done.. not to mention the anxiety of it all.

I'd love to report progress on my case but I'm afraid it just can't happen right away, even though stalling and avoidance is probably a dumb way to go about these things. Well I've touched on that subject before as you've seen...
