Indiana Jones...Crystal Skull

i know, but now there are four films, three of them seem to follow a specific formula, whereas Temple of Doom doesn't.

i think it is this that attracts so much derision

for my money, Last Crusade is the weakest film

I thought the movie was rubbish.
Saw it the first week it came out in cinema.
I ended up talking to my best mate thorugh the whole thing because it couldn't keep my interest.
Thinking about it now it cost me about

In Crystal Skull, Indy somehow survives a nuclear blast due to a fridge. In Temple of Doom, Indy survives a fall from an aeroplane thanks a to a rubber dinghy.

These films have never been sensible. Yet it seems Crystal Skull gets more stick for its stupidity than the others.

Raiders was the best and will always be the best. End of, on that point. But Crystal Skull - like it or not - is not THAT much different than any of ther others. It might have had aliens, but it didn't have men who can pull hearts out of other mens' chests.

Come on....these films have never been smart!

Listen, the problem was that raiders set the bar so high that many family adventure films never met!! There really isnt a bad inday film, hence why they are loved in the same breath as starwars back to the future etc.

Raiders - Classic

Doom - in my opinion most of the memorable indy scenes are in this movie, and i dont recall any other indy that he has "no time for love doctor jones"

Crusade - My personal favourite, plenty of humor, great casting and probably the best artifact!! Full Marks

Skull - the only dark cloud for me is the swinging in the trees with the monkeys. The rest was a perfectly fun saturday afternoon movie, with the 50's tone set perfectly!! It had also lost two great characters in denholm and connery, but introdeced mutt who was perfectly fine, i just think no one likes shia lebeuf, cant see the problem with the guy to be honest!!

Anyway i would not really welcome a 5th installment as i dont think it would be an indiana movie, as proven in "skull" indy sat out of most of the action sequences and left them to Mutt. and i just feel that they would be making a "Mutt Jones and problems with puberty"!! Rather than a indiana jones and the lost city of atlantis etc.

Anyway Indiana Jones movies are ace, simples!!!

Considering that Raiders had the ark and the wrath of God (whose existence is debateable) and a Nazi monkey in it, and was intended as a homage to the OTT b/w cliffhangers of Lucas's youth, aliens (well, other dimensional beings actually) and hiding in lead-lined fridges from a nuclear blast was acceptable in my book.
I too could have done without Labouef (who I like actually) swinging through the trees though.
It's not a great film really but at least it didn't just re-hash bits of Raiders and stick Sean Connery in there like the overrated Last Crusade.

there is one wonderful little scene in Last Crusade with Indy and his dad, and it is when they have just crashed the biplane after escaping from the Zeppelin

as they jump down behind the stone wall with the german fighter plane's bullets whizzing over them, and Jones senior says, quite flabbergasted

"I think they're trying to kill us!"
"I KNOW DAD!!"
"Well, it's a new experience for me"
"Happens to me all the time!"

brilliant :D

Watched it again this morning before everyone got up. Am I really alone in loving the film? I do agree that the silliness quotient ramps up a bit in the last half of the film, but really it's no sillier than past adventures.

I just really enjoyed it again. It's kinda sad to me that it gets this "Phantom Menace" geek hate. Ah well. I guess I just never grew up! :D
