Pretty much. I'm sure if they were rich, they could start their own bank ... or if THEIR mom or pop owned the bank, they could work as an underling (ie nepotism), but by and large, in the banking industry now, you will be working for someone else and run the risk of being fucked over by that business.
It's a choice because you can leave that industry and do something else for a living. PLENTY of people are changing industries now. Hell, I was watching some show on Food Network last night and there was a guy who was a banker who left the industry a couple years ago and now is a professional chef.
The choice, ultimately is the worker.
If you are in banking and are too stupid to learn another trade or work for another bank, then consider yourself lucky you got a job in banking in the first place.
