Anyone think the film reminded them of the Matrix, i kept thinking that throughout the film, wish Mike Cain got more screen time really ,but a real good film 10/10:)

I just went to see Inception this morning and I thought it was great. I agree with previous posters that the two and half hours fly by. The good thing about going to an early screening was that there was only about 20 people including me watching it!

I'm not quite sure of the connection between what you've written and the comment I've mine you quoted, as I haven't made any reference to what Cobb knows or whether it registered for me on an emptional level?

Anyhoo, I'm not saying it doesn't matter to Cobb whether he knows if he's dreaming or in reality. That's an old film cliche going back through The Matrix, Total Recall, Carrie and beyond. I'm saying it matters to us, the audience.

As for emotional levels, well, there wasn't much emotion on display was there? The only character you knew enough about to care for was Cobb and I did feel happy for him when he got to see his kiRAB at the end. I thought LCD did a good job and really made you want him to get back home. Did I care when Saito 'died'? No. Did I care about ther father/ son relationship? No. Then again, we're not really supposed to. Saito dying was purely a plot device for Nolan to showcase the difference between how time passes in limbo compared to reality. The father/ son thing, again a simple plot hook on which to hang the will and the issue of what his father's last worRAB really were. I'm not saying they didn't service the plot well, they did, but they didn't arouse any emotion in me.

Clearly there are rules. The dream neeRAB to seem consistent so that the subject doesn't realise it is a dream, so you can't go lobbing nukes. The world was designed by an architect, and it's possible that, rather than think up a bigger gun on the spur of the moment, the character requested the architect design a bigger gun into the world for him to use.

Firstly, a very good, enjoyable film and I'm really starting to like LDC after disliking him for years after You Know What. However I did not think it the classic, best-film-ever that a lot of people have been making it. I think it tried to be too clever which upon closer examination was all total rubbish. it also became to Matrix-like in parts which was a shame. And why the false starts and the ambiguity at the end? Cliched Hollywood techniques which spoilt things for me.

8/10 but could have been better.

What I didn't get was

When he opened the safe at the end in that dream within a dream within a dream, had he already opened it in real life and seen that there was a windmill in it.

Wouldn't that mean in the first dream he was lying to the guy who he thought they had been torturing when he said he didn't know the combo.

Was that last dream of him opening the safe a memory then?

I thought this film was amazing. Really confused me at times though. Just when I thought I'd got something I got confused again. Really made you think. Brilliant acting in it and some amazing scenes. I'll maybe go and see it again and see if I get it more second time round.

I know its extremely early to say but with Nolan behind it all (as everything story wise has came out of his head) and a brilliant cast with a lot of the team who worked with Nolan on films like The Dark Knight, Memento and The Prestige do you think this movie could do well at the awarRAB.

I KNOW hardly anything has been released about this movie but with what i said above its gotta win something.

The GF and her mate dragged me along to watch it on tuesday lol. I wish they hadn't. I did not like it at all (although I admit the action scenes we're good) it made no sense to me whatsoever though. The Dark Knight was fantastic with Chris Nolan but personally (and this is my opinion lol) this wasn't 1 of his better movies i'm afraid :(

I liked it! Happily go back to watch it again! Confusing but understand it all by the end! Its just one of them films you really have to concentrate on! :)

Overall I liked it. I did find the characters a bit flat which is weird considering it has some of my favourite actors in it. Like others said I didn't really care one iota what happened to any of them, Leo included. That plus the fact that it was a dream within a dream etc took away a lot of the tension for me too. Especially when it cut back to the van free-falling. I thought "wow thats a pretty cool scene" but at no point did I feel the tension needed to get emotionally involved in a film.

As for the plot, after getting my head around it I didn't find it overly difficult to follow and after that it kind of played out predictably. I'm sure I probably missed a lot of little bits though so I will definitely be viewing it again. The prestige took a while for me to warm to and is now one of my favourite films so maybe this one will be a similar case.

I didn't like The Dark Knight but I am looking forward to this one, although the level of wanky fanboy hype surrounding it is starting to get silly. It's like the second coming or something.

Comparing Nolan to Kubrick also beggars belief. Loooong way to go before we start any of that, methinks.
