In jokes slipped onto TV shows

Scubbs had an episode where the janitor claimed to have been a hollywood actor in the past, JD didnt beleive him, then later in the episode, he was watching "The fugitive" starring harrison ford, on TV.
And low and behold the janitor is in a scene in the movie, on a subway, he is a cop and shouts "KIMBLE!!!", and is then shot by the bad guy, JD later comfronts him and he re-inacts the scene in the hostpital corridor.
This i thought was quite clever, as the janitor and and cop were indeed played by the same actor, Neil Flynn.:D

They did that earlier in the episode Frozen Dick as well, as soon as he gets on the plane he leaps to the window and yells "There's something on the wing!!". :)

In an episode of Angel, which involved a person saying a magic phrase to switch bodies with people, part of the inctantation was the word 'kimota', which was the magic word used by Marvel/Miracleman to switch between being Mike Moran and his superhero alter ego.

I noticed on Hollyoaks last Tuesday that there was a brief shot right at the start of a newspaper hoarding carrying a headline about a dog called Beauchamp winning a prize.

David Beauchamp was directing the show that day so this was presumably an in joke.

Does anyone know any other examples?

There was an episode of Fringe earlier this year (a series about weird events) where two FBI vans had registration plates shown very briefly in shot that were R 2 D2 and C 3 PO - more or less.

Again obviously an in joke from a Star Wars fan.

Also in NCIS there was one episode where Tony said that he had more chance of dating Jessica Alba, when Michael Weatherley who plays Tony was married to her for a while! :D

The Smallville Season 5 episode "Exposed" has some in jokes to the tv series "The Dukes Of Hazzard".John Schneider who played Mr Kent in Smallville was originally in "The Dukes Of Hazzard" as Bo Duke.In this episode Tom Wopat guest stars & he also was in "The Dukes Of Hazzard" as Luke Duke.

Grim Reaper in the last episode of Heartbeat ?

Some of the background music in the Vic in EE can be very ''in''

Don't the names of the characters in New Tricks have some connection with a well-known football club because of the original writer's support

Alfred Hitchcock made fleeting appearances in his own films - that was meant to be very ''in''

In NCIS DiNozzo and Gibbs are doing a crossword where one of the answers is St. Elsewhere, a show that Mark Harmon appeared in. Someone also mentioned Ted Bundy, another Harmon role.

Recent one I noticed:

In Dexter season 5, he goes to a funeral director and the guy sits there and says, quite falsely, Sorry For Your Loss, and pushes the tissues closer to Dexter - who of course is played by Micheal C Hall and he played David Fisher in Six Feet Under who - says, quite falsely etc!!

The more obvious in joke was that Sideshow Bob was played by Kelsey Grammer, who of course played Frasier and thus David Hyde Pierce played Kelsey's fictional brother once again.

There is an episode of NCIS where one of the chracters asks what 'Ducky' looked like when he was young, Ducky is played by David McCallum.

Gibbs replies 'Illya Kuryakin'!

Wasn't there a couple more references too? I think the car Tom Wopat drives is the same model as the General Lee from The Dukes Of Hazard, and I seem to remember some joke about getting into the car through the windows instead of opening the doors (might have imagined that last one :o).

Isn't there a moment in David Tennant's first Who episode, The Christmas Invasion, where he's going through the TARDIS wardrobe deliberating on his new clothes, and he pulls out his Casanova costume and does a little double-take? (Casanova of course not only starred Tennant but was also written by Russell T Davies.)

In Corrie, I remember when (I think) the Nelson/Harris family were moving into the house previously owned by Des Barnes, Tommy the dad said something along the lines of "Oh, very des res". I thought at the time I'd have loved it to be a deliberate in-joke but I suspect it was purely coincidental!

In Ghost Whisperer episode 2 season 4 Big Chills

Three teens run over a person and decide not to mention it again but years later someone is haunting them. Similar to the film I know what you did last summer which also starred Jennifer Love Hewitt. The actor that played the hit and run victim in the episode played the same character in Scary Movie.

There was an earlier episode Ghost Writer (I think) which featured references to many other horror films some of which the Ghost Whisperer stars had appeared in.
