I'm sick of "the government should do something" v oil 'spill'

they do have a duty to protect the public...
but im not sure what we should expect them to do. BP literally employs the smartest people in the world when it comes to this matter. the government should step in and make sure the incentives at this point are aligned with the best interests of the public/environment....but beyond that, the gov cant do much, nor should we expect them to

im really disgousted how helpless and enraged the public has become
they act as though they didnt ask for exactly what they received the last 10 years.

Yea, the Coast Guard is a bunch of politicians. NOAA, they are politicians, The Department of the interior, the Energy department, they are all politicians, so is the army army corps of engineers

who do you reckon it should be? The president? A cabinet member? A head of one of the many departments involved? A non-governmental appointee to a special committee?

Is there someone but he/she just hasn't been made known specifically to the public?

tree hugging hippies

if they could drill in AK they wouldn't be drilling 5000 feet deep in the ocean

I think they are doing that last because it takes the longest. They are just trying other quicker things in the mean time

I blame Obama for this oil spill and all unfathered black children in this world. that fuckin guy

Why are you disgusted? Mass public response is almost always generally ridiculous.

Don't fucking blame BP, fucking blame Obama's poor decisions and indecisiveness that got us into this mess.

the smartest ppl in the world are "running the spill"
but dont get me wrong, i suspect a conflict of interest, as i already stated.

They have been....on two of them, incase one misses the mark. These started before you heard about any containment domes or top kills. Last I saw they were over 10k feet down aiming for 18k.

and then a spill would be 1000X worse because the environment is even more fragile

if anything this is reason NOT to drill in pristine areas
