bike at all?
I have never owned a motorcycle before and just want some insight if this is a good bike to learn on. I am aware that this is not the best bike out there but it's in my price range and if I damage it I won't be overly mad compared to damaging a more expensive newer one.

First thing I would do is find out what insurance will cost you. If you just got your motorcycle license a Ninja in the 600 cc class or higher could cost you a lot more then you can afford. You don't have to buy the bike first in order to get an insurance quote.

If insurance is not an issue then how does the bike fit you? Can you sit on it comfortably? If the fit is good them you have to take the age of the bike in to consideration. Are you able to do minor mechanical work and repairs? A cheap bike can get real expensive if you have to pay a shop to fix it all the time.

If none of the above items cause any issues then you should be fine.
