If you had to choose: ImportGSM or NokiaUSA for n73

Hi there! I'm looking to buy the n73 and the price seems to be only a $10 difference but I believe ImportGSM may have the international version of the n73 as opposed to the US version offered at NokiaUSA. Which of these is better? I know both sites offer the 1yr warranty, I'm just unsure if I may be missing something one site may offer that other does not as in accessories and such. Any suggestions? Has anyone bought from both and prefer one over the other? Why?

TIA!

Nokia USA is the official Nokia distributor. You'll get better warranty support from them (ImportGSM will have to ship your phone overseas).

From what I have heard, ImportGSM actually does a swap for you, and then deals with the manufacturer on their own. Somewhat similar to Cingular's XBM, where you get a replacement shipped next day to you, and then you send them your device, and go on your merry way while they jack with the warranty business.

IMO, that's worth it, moreso than trying to deal with Nokia. I've only used their warranty once, on my 6170, and I was without the device for nearly a month.

I think that the swapping thing requires the extra extended warranty....I think that the regular warranty that you get for free has to be sent back to them

Unless you want the ME version, get it from Nokia. It's cheaper (shipping isn't included with ImportGSM) and has the NokiaUSA backed warranty.

That said, I purchased my N73me from ImportGSM last week and they provide great customer service.

Yea, I don't mean to bag on ImportGSM, I got my E70 from them and had a very good experience as well. I just think the official US warranty should be taken when you can get it.

Yea...I don't think that anyone took it as that.....but as the case with all Nokia phones MOST are imports and if you need to buy an import......ImportGSM is you best solution

I know shipping isn't included at ImportGSM but Nokia charges tax so the total at Nokia comes out to $463 with free 2day shipping and ImportGSM is $443 if you choose 2day shipping and no tax (from the looks of it). It's only a $20 difference so I'm guessing from these posts that it'll be worth it for Nokia's warranty. Any difference in accessories that come with the phone? Or build of the phone?

For me if the difference is only $20, I'd go with Nokia USA for the pc of mind. Again, I've never bought from ImportGSM, but buying from the actual manufacture always somehow makes me feel a little better.

I believe both will come with the same accessories and have the same build quality.

+1

I had buyers remorse a few days after buying mine - NokiaUSA didn't release that price until late last week. But I'm loving the black version of the ME.

Great! So I've decided to go with NokiaUSA BUT now the color is an issue. If I order it online it doesn't give me an option. So I called and was told the only color in stock was the "maroon" one (plum and silver I assume). So I said, great! (it's the color I want). But when it came down to it, I decided to order over the phone instead so the guy can again assure me that is the color I would get. So I called and a different rep said the only color available is red and white, not plum and silver. So I said thanks but no thanks. After a few mins, I called again and spoke to ANOTHER rep and he said the ONLY color they have in stock is SILVER! WTF!!!

Has anyone ordered from NokiaUSA and if so, what color did you get? Anyone??

Well, I took the plunge and ordered it. I called and asked again and the rep said it was silver (again) but at least this guy said he couldn't see the back of it so didn't know if it had any other color (the other two guys that said silver swore it was silver all over including the back). So I'm thinking/hoping it's going to be the silver/plum color. I guess I'll find out in 2-4 business days.

Thanks for your help everyone!!

Let me tell you about Nokia warranty.

I sent my N90 in for repair back in January. It was received on January 22. It still hasnt come back yet.

No prob.... .....but you know I actually didn't like the silver/plum by what I saw in pictures.....but seeing it in person made all the difference....it's very classy yet not to classy

Aww! Really!? That sucks! Have you contacted them to see what's up? I guess the normal turn-around time is supposed to be about 8 weeks (at ImportGSM anyway) so I guess that gives them a couple more weeks. Hope you get it back soon...
