If so many Pagan cultures and religions celebrated Winter Solstice... ?

Now id it only Christianity "stole" it and "ripped it off"?

Are these Pagan religions simply extremely smiler? Also seeing as it was celebrated before they existed how sis they not "steal" it?

Personally i see no reason we all do not have the right to celebrate how, what, when, and who we want.
 
There is no "stealing" of a celebration. If one celebration is well supported then all others will pale in comparison. You are free to celebrate how you please. Christmas, the celebration of Christ's birth just happens to dwarf all others. That in itself says a lot about Jesus. Worldwide recognition is the greatest of all testimonies.

Oh, and don't let the term Christian confuse you. Christ was from the foundation of this world. He predates all other religions.
 
Christians try to glom on to everything. They even tried to replace groundhog day with something called "Candlemas".
 
The Winter Solstice is a natural phenomenon of great importance to people who live in northern regions. It's the longest night of the year, meaning after it the days start getting longer again. It marks the seasonal shift that leads to springtime. If you live in a northern region you know how comforting thoughts of springtime can be in the depth of winter.

Unsurprisingly, many nature-based religions of northern peoples independently came to attach mystical significance to the Winter Solstice, developed means to positively identify which day it was, and gave thanks to their various deities for the day, and the promise of spring it implied.
 
You do have the right to celebrate however you like. However, many Christians claim to disdain all that is pagan, then use those traditions. It's very silly
 
Your question was a bit hard to follow, but I think you asserted that pagans came after christianity.

WRONG, paganism predates christianity by a looooong way
 
I don't resent anybody for "stealing" Solstice. I do resent when they try to tell me that Christianity is the only true religion and I will burn in hell if I don't agree with them.

So all this bickering over Solstice is really rooted in the anger at their pushy judgmental proselytizing.
 
I agree; we should all be able to celebrate how, what, when, and who we want. I very much agree with that.

I just think it's important to know the history behind the celebrations, and I'll admit, I get irritated when some Christians tell me that I shouldn't celebrate at all because I don't believe in God. As stated above, I will celebrate how, and what, I want to.
