If nature is about "survival of the fittest", then why did it give humans...

...that brain capacity to make morals? Was morality an accident? Why would nature make the mistake of breaking the chain of natural selection? Did it make a mistake; everything in nature has it's place, so obviously "survival of the fittest" is very effective. Where along the lines did thinking and reasoning come into play and why (If scientists have given a timeline yet)?
None of you are getting the concept right. Fine I won't use MORALITY, then how about why did nature give us "personal perception?" and WHY did it give us a higher intellegience rather than strength/speed/endurance etc, things that other animals have? Are you willing to come to the conclusion that nature can think and reason itself?

P.S. defining morality doesn't really answer my question.. =/
Also, wouldn't you think "personal perception" is just a wee-bit more complicated to make without makes us 'know-it-all' robots? Why would it choose something so complicated rather than bigger muscles and/or tougher skin? Heck, even wings? The brain is astronomically complex, although it can be broken down and analyzed, it doesn't mean that the brain is simple.
