If my subwoofers have a higher watt output than my amp, is this bad?

I am debating on getting 2 15" 3600W subs. I have already bought a 4000W amp. Could i run those 2 subs off the 4000W amp until i got another one?

first off, i think your providing us with max or peak values...never go by these...always go by rms.

secondly, it is safer and recommended that your subs can handle more than your amp can put out...this way you will have less of a chance to fry them.

you gave the peak wattage if your buying your amp looking at peak wattage you will blow your subs... you match up the RMS wattage not the peak power...
and the rule of thumb here is keep your subwoofers powered between half power and full power any lower than half... they will distort from lack of power and ability to move and over full power you run the risk of frying the voice coil"s"
