A few months ago i was hanging out with my friends drinking at a local bar on a Friday night. We were getting ready to leave when a friend got into an altercation in the parking lot down the st, long story short the guy pulled out a gun, as i was attempting to cover myself with my arm one shot went threw my hand. At first it felt like i put my hand on the stove, it felt incredibly hot and then the pain started to set in...the bleeding wasn't as bad as i had expected (if you can expect being shot that is?) I personally am not a fan of emergency rooms or doctors. I'm extremely frightened of them and dont trust them. I took of my shirt and applied pressure while my friend drove us to his house. When we got there we went to the garage and started washing the wound in the sink with rubbing alcohol and warm water. The bullet was i assume a small caliber because it the hole was no larger then a dime. Longer story short i kept pressure on it for about a week and used powder blood clotting stuff i found in my first aid kit on it. It has mostly scabbed up, but i still sometimes loose feeling in my hand from time to time. It could be fine for days, then for an hour or two be completely numb. Other then that no obvious problems, no drainage, its not warm to the touch, and there isent too much pain. Is the numbing sensation nerve damage? Do nerves "grow" back? or is this permanent?
