After some research i bought a Pioneer P5000UB head unit which fit my budget. I should not have expected a high five from the 1996 stock speakers. So, i am moving on to buy some good speakers. I want to build the system gradually due to budget constraints. Here are my questions and options.

1. Buy front speakers only (no amp). Should i really consider a component system or a good quality speaker with tweeters will do?

2. If need may be, i can invest in amp. Do i need 2 amps for 2 front speakers or 1 will do? What should be the ideal amp rating? Where can i keep all the amps in the car?

3. Buy the rear speakers.

4. If need may be - amps for rear speakers.

5. If budget permits a subwoofer.

Please note i am doing all this in a 96 camry. So i dont want to spend a fortune on this.

My step by step building is any good? Please suggest.

Fronts are 6.5"
Any speakers that you buy will have tweeters within the speaker set. The different speakers is this, component speakers means the tweeter is seperate form the woofer, otherwise known as coax speakers where the tweeter is permanently attached to the woofer.

You may get an amp for all for of the speakers, a decent 4 channel will suffice. Other wise a decent 2 channel front speakers on channel 1 and rears on channel 2. It all depends on you where you want them at. I have 1 in my trunk and 1 under my drivers seat.

3. Buy the rear speakers.
Rears are 5 1/4"
For these I would suggest CDT Audio, not real expensive but respond like they are extremely expensive. www.woofersetc.com

Really do not need a seperate amp for these, can use the same 2 or 4 channel amp mentioned earlier.

5. If budget permits a subwoofer.
For subs follow this link, I think you will like what you see. They all come with a 5 year warranty as well, and kick ass customer service.

Other than that you would need another amp for the sub or subs, you would need a mono block amp for the subs. Do not use a 2 channel for subs since mono blocks were made specifically for subs. Do your homework and you will have a nice set up. But you are really doing it the right way. Investigating everything and getting your info first. Do right the first time so that you do not have to do it again, which so far your doing.

yes u will get a crisper high ad deeper mid because they are designed for that specifically. go with pioneer series component
no you do not need an amp for mids or rear if you really want one you can pick up a 4ch for front and rear
looks like you have your priorities straight
good luck

i would go with (if you have 6 1/2 inch fron speakers) alpine sps-600 they are about $100 a pair if you have 6 1/2 in back i would put the same in the back or if you have 6X9's in back go with alpine sps-69c2 they are 79.99 a pair. as far as subs go in my opinion rockford fosgate make great cheap subs the ps412 which is a fosgate punch series 12 inch 4 ohm 150 watt rms speaker for 110 but i had 2 in a fire bird and they sound great for what they are. and to power them get a p300-2 its a fosgate punch seies amp that will give you 150 watts rms at 2 ohms new its 300 but you can find them on ebay that are refurbished for like 150. and for a sub box if you listen to rap/bass heavy music i would get a ported box made by subzero a elv102 or if you listen to rock and other such music go with a subzero t5102 (if you are going to have 2 subs) as far as amping the front/rear speakers i would hold off unless you go relly big and get some serious subs. i hope this helps.
