I want to install LEDs under my dashboard - what kind should I get and where...

...should I get them? I have no idea where I should get LEDs. The setups that I have seen have all been LED tubes (or neon? not sure.) Where should I buy them?

Also, if anyone has any idea of how to connect the LEDs to the battery and what kind of wires/(resistors?) I need, that would be much appreciated.
