I plan to learn the art of Tissu or "silks" in about a year... how can I prepare?

I can't afford to begin taking lessons right now money-wise or time-wise, but in a year I shall. How can I learn/prepare as much as possible between now and then?

Any advice is REALLY appreciated <3
