manners any more? I was shopping at a large grocery store this evening, and I realized that a good handful of people I came across were lacking manners.
Example - I was standing at the soup and salad bar looking at one of the soups. She came out of nowhere and reached her big wrinkly arm right in my face and across from me to reach for a cup. She never said excuse me, but I automatically did out of habit. I stepped back and said "oh excuse me." She never apologized for reaching right in front of my face.
A moment later I'm walking with my cart and I have to pass by several people, so I move my cart out of their way and say "excuse me"......everyone just keeps walking without saying anything.
Why is it so hard to simply say "excuse me" in return (since THEY were equally in my way too)?
I'm not surprised by this behavior, but when I left I just wondered to myself - why? why is it so hard? I wasn't angry, I was just curious because I had made mental notes to myself.
Also most of these people are older adults.....30+ years old. I also live in the South and run across plenty of rude people down here so the whole myth about Southerners having more manners is bull crap.
