I just walked out of Miami Vice.

Well that explains it.

Foxx and Farrell had ZERO chemistry. Given they are 2 cops, partners who trust each other with their lives they were acting like they just met an hour before each scene. There was VERY LITTLE dialogue between them, pretty much non-existent emotions and feeling of some sort of friendship. It was pathetic and I WISH i was overexaggerating. Just go see it and you'll see what i'm talking about, guaranteed. Plot was skewed, there was at least 40 minutes worth of useless scenes which were made up of funny camera angles which really had zero point. That's all the movie had going for it, effects, nice cars and some nice filming locations. But very predictable to a point where any moron could figure out the ending, they didn't even try to make it interesting, you were pretty much left to looking forward to the next cool shooting effect or camera angle.. everything else lacked substance big time. Especially the whole little love story between Colon Farrell and the azn bitch the circumstances of which were completely unrealistic and pathetically fake. Farrell appeared like a half-way retarded person attempting to conceal his idiocy... he had the stupid look on his face the entire movie, he's not meant for this role.. and they weren't made to be partners even though Foxx tried..

Okay, maybe something was wrong with the theatre I was at, because every single gunshot in that last shootout sounded completely muffled, as though it was behind a foot of glass and then fired. If there was a problem at my theatre, sorry for jumping on you. I was mostly trying to be funny anyways by going overboard.

The movie is worth seeing just for the cinematography. Mann is the only major director that gets digital cinematography and isn't trying to make it look like film. The way Miami Vice was shot was just brilliant.

the movie was shot very well and the action scenes were well done

the rest of the movie didnt do very well at developing the characters, something which made michael mann movies stand out so much

sub-par mann is still above average for other directors

Here's a question I hope someone will answer: Why does Jaime Foxx feel compelled to play super tough, one man army type roles (best reserved fro the rock )? (Ray and other kneejerker movies aside)
