I just got a Magellan Roadmate 1412 for Christmas and need help!!?

Whenever I try to type a location or press a button on the menu; it thinks I am pressing whatever is above it. So, I can't press anything on the bottom of the screen, because it thinks I am pressing whatever is above it.

Please help!!! I am extremely frustrated!
