I hear high pitch sounds from electronics, what can this be?

Very likely you have undamaged hearing that is very acute. I can hear a high pitched noise from my alarm clock that is just the sound of it being "on". I used to also hear the on/off switch for my heated mattress. It had a different tone on than off, and the only way to get rid of the sound entirely was to unplug it. There are rules that govern the amount of noise an electronic device can make, but for those with really sensitive hearing that might not always be enough.

Thank you for the reply, yes the only way for me to get rid of the sound is by shutting the electronic off... i can hear the noise from sisters tv with the volume all the way down even when both of our doors are closed :\

HI there Caguy91! One time when I was in a museum years ago I heard a high pitch noise and asked my family who then also noticed it. We asked the officials of the museum what was causing this and they said it was the security system of the museum. Some people can't hear it. Some people according to a source I read on the net can hear at minus 15 decibels. I wish you the best just in case it was not the T.V. Perhaps a move might be in order if you find that possible.

CAGuy,

I too, hear the high pitched noises. When I was in high school and sang in our church choir, our director had to block the alarm amplifiers as they made me double over in pain. I could, in my younger years, hear some of hte dog whistles.

Yes, I was going to respond the same. I can hear high pitched noises my husband can't..and I've had the same experience with noises in stores and walking by light switches.

What you can do is have something like a fan in your room or an air cleaner that can create some "white noise" to help cancel it out.
Of course, it helps if it doesn't have high frequency sounds coming from them too.

I was also going to ask if you take any salicylate medications such as aspirin? They can cause ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and if you are sensitive to those frequencies, it might exacerbate them.

Hope you find a solution,
q
