Yes, I was going to respond the same. I can hear high pitched noises my husband can't..and I've had the same experience with noises in stores and walking by light switches.
What you can do is have something like a fan in your room or an air cleaner that can create some "white noise" to help cancel it out.
Of course, it helps if it doesn't have high frequency sounds coming from them too.
I was also going to ask if you take any salicylate medications such as aspirin? They can cause ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and if you are sensitive to those frequencies, it might exacerbate them.
