stalls. why is this? It runs fine if I hold the clutch in a little bit as I ride, but as soon as i release it all the way the bike dies. The diaphrams need to be replaced, and it has air filters on the carbs. Why does it stall?

well obviously your lacking power, the question is why. There could be many reasons, from compression to blocked carbs. I would start by doing a compression test. If the compression is within spec them I would do a thorough cleaning of the carbs. Make sure they are synchronized and the mixture is within spec.

Do this, I had the same problem and all it was was dirty carbs. It can cost a lot to clean carbs or you can buy a fuel additive at the auto parts store called SeaFoam It also treats motorcycles you'll see the pic of the motorcycle on the can. Read the directions and just put that in your gas tank. You will see a dramatic difference, mine doesn't stall anymore and I saved $400 on carb cleaning/rebuild etc.. and see below the web site
