I,m having trouble finding a good cheap(ish) replacement.I,ve heard springs are good but i,ve also heard that alot of new patent spring shocks don,t last long and make for a poor ride.

the problem is that the air shocks were never made aftermarket for this bike.
Your best bet is to look at M & P and BUSTERS online sites and try to see what is offered.
The bike makes a good basis for a trike, this too could be an alternative
