needs a reed valve to run right? this engine will try to fire off if I spray mixed gas in the carb, and will run a little bit with the carb off if I spray gas into the intake, I have had it running in the past, but I was recently told that a lot of 2-cycle engines require a reed valve and without them they may run poorly or may not run at all.

Great answer Mad Jack, you seem very knowledgeable about snowmobiles, perhaps you could tell me, would a Walbro carb work on gravity feed alone?
