...own amp. ? Is it safe to give the subs their maximum power of 1200 watts each, or set them at a lower ohm level ?

Peak power = the power level that they will blow at....
RMS= the power they can handle on a constant basis
Look at the RMS and then email me with those stats then i can help you choose an amplifier... im guessing the subs are around 600 watts RMS but please email me this to verify.
Also i need to know what OHM the subs are and wether they are dual voice coil or single
