Well, there's two ways to look at this situation. If you quit, it may upset your parents some that they paid for something that you didn't follow through with, but sometimes that's just how life goes and you have to let it go. If you keep up with this sport, you may even have to spend more money down the road. You could also sell the shoes on the net or to someone else if they are unused and you don't want them. You are not weak and a disappointment for quitting a sport- I myself went through practically every sport that you can think of, which my parents spent quite a bit of money on. Not everyone is good at certain sports or athletic at all, that doesn't make you a disappointment, and besides, your parents should be proud of you no matter what. This brings me to my other point, after all of those sports that I tried and sucked at, I started cross country, which I wasn't very good at either, but I kept to it and got better. The great thing about running is everyone can do it, and everyone can get better, even if you have no athletic skills! Everyone gets better with practice- the reason most people are better is because they have done it since they were younger. I did track as well when I cross-country was over. I never became top-varsity, but I stuck with it for three years (all the rest of my high school years) and became pretty good, made lots of friends, and had lots of fun. It most importantly made me happy. Don't force yourself to do something to make others happy, even your parents. You should do whichever you think will make you more happy, it is up to you.
