i am getting coolant in my oil 1989 kawasaki kx250 what is causing this?

Unless this particular engine is different from every other engine in the world a blown head gasket will blow coolant into the cylinder which will blow past the rings into the crankcase. The other option is a cracked head or case, which is a worst case scenario. Usually if the water pump oil seal goes you will get oil in the coolant because the oil is under higher pressure than the coolant, path of least resistance stuff. Don't do this blind or on simple advise, get a manual. 30 bucks for a manual is cheaper than any repair if you screw up.
