Spaghetti and meatballs is kind of traditional for this, and easy to fix.
You can even do the traditional "eat from opposite ends of a strand of spaghetti until your lips meet in the middle" schtick. It's fun!
A little red wine (Chianti or, if you like something sweeter, Lambrusco) and candle light are also traditional.
Just don't overcook the spaghetti! Also, do not rinse it or drizzle oil over it)
If you're somewhat of a novice cook, as your question suggests, you can use canned spaghetti sauce and frozen meatballs. A bagged salad mix can be jazzed up with grated cheese, croutons, a little sliced pepperoni, black olives, or pepperoncini peppers. Or a combination.
Just use low heat when warming the sauce and meatballs, and stir frequently to prevent scorching.
If you want to keep it simple, there's nothing wrong with ice cream for dessert.
