I'm struggling with the issue of human worth and dignity.... does every human being have innate value? More and more, it seems to be eroded by science, consumerism, and even just sheer numbers .... with 6 billion plus of us on the earth right now, are we really each really have inherent worth and dignity?
AND .... can this question be answered in the affirmative WITHOUT referencing God, man-made-in-image-of-God, etc?
Also, if you can suggest any books on the topic, I'd really appreciate that too! Thanks!
WellTravelledProg, science has eroded our dignity since Copernicus showed that we are not the "center of the Universe" (planetarily-speaking) and by Darwin's presenting that we are little more than evolved animals. Nothing special ... no God-created special beings .... just more evolved, thinking animals.
