How to train for a 5km run in a short space of time?

II haven't done much running since year 6 (5 years ago) when I used to be quite good.
Is there any way I can train for the next two weeks so that I will at least be able to run most of it (doesn't matter about the speed)?
If I run twice a day starting With a smaller distance and gradually getting longer will that work?
Also if you have a stitch how can you get rid of it :s??
Any answers will be really appreciated :D
