How to speed up a Midi to USB cable?

There is a significant delay between when I hit the key on the keyboard and when the sound transfers to my computer. I know there's supposed to be latency, but is there any way to minimize it? I'm using a cable that connects to my keyboard through Midi In/Out, and to my computer through USB.
