How to install car audio when there's a cavity behind the dash?

I bought a Peugeot 306 with a hole in the dash where the radio/CD should be. The hole has an empty cavity behind it with no walls. How can I fit a radio/CD when there is nothing for the bracket claws to grab onto?
 
If the hole is din size which it should be, you should be able to slide the cage in and it should stop on the lip. After it has been slid in all the way, proceed to bend the tabs down on the cage to lock it in place. If the hole is a little larger than the cage, you can put a slightly larger trim ring between the hole and the cage.
