I am about to do my big3 upgrade, i just have one question regarding my cap... i have to discharge it before i start messing withe wiring and charge it afterwards right??? how can i do that???

I have a 1.0 farad cap....

thanks...

You don't have to discharge it. It should keep it's charge just fine while u do the big 3 upgrade.
If you want to discharge it & charge it back later, just unhook your battery's neg terminal, that will make your car's electronics run off your cap. Now try starting your car off the cap. You'll notice the dome light go out. That means your cap is safely discharged.

the "big 3" dont involve a cap-they are honestly pointless-i had a few back in the day and they are a waste of money, your lights still dim and all that-all it does is save current to throw to your amp,and honestly i never could tell the difference with and without a cap(i have exelent hearing for music and changes on a system too),save yor money, your best bet is run another battery and hook it up to your main car battery to keep it charged(just to keep from killing your alternator or battery that runs your car)best advise i can give you unless your trying for some spl s**t-then you have alot more to do,basic system, forget the cap and roll what you got ;)

I wouldn't personally discharge it with a screwdriver. It doesn't have nearly a farad of capacitance. If I were you, I'd connect it to the car chassis. Even better, connect it to an outdoor spigot. Get ready for a serious electrical arc. You might not get one, but then again you might.

1 farad... yikes.
