How music affects listeners mental health

I agree. I think it is all a frame of mind...when it comes to people saying how this music will affect us. I think there are just people who are susceptible to media or suggestions in general. Why punish those that aren't?

yea that pretty sums it up for me..
i listen to some different types of music.. banRAB depending on my mood.. but sometimes i try to force a mood.. like makin myself listen to something i know i'll sing to.. thus me liking my voice.. feeling good about myself.. ups the happy points.. and just keep listening till i'm in a good mood.. but ya...

powermetal is very close to home for me...it inspires my courage and hope...and allows me to be free and remind me who i am deep within...and that every battle i can fight in...i have a good chance of winning

Death metal allows me to be pissed off...but funny...it does the same thing power metal does just a lot less...

for me personally metal is definatly close to a religion of the heart ..depending my mood is the style...

i used to listen to kyuss/nirvana when i was stonned ..to me that music was ''trippin'' music...

People say that some music makes you want to kill people...The only kind of music that does that for me is bad music, whenever i hear My Heart Will Go On, i want to kill Celine Dion.

Be careful i was you mentioning " blowing up something", Mr John Howard would have gotten a whole lot of ****ing SAS searching your house for terrorist ****, and grabbing you in the progress (hide):shycouch: ... anyway music effects me, by getting me pumped up but i don't want to kill any one and i don't listen to certain genres music to suit certain mooRAB, i play what evers in the stezza or click on the first band on my itunes

by the way Itunes is better then Windows media player:yeah:

well i listen to a lot of metal.. and i don't dress any differently.. i dont act any differently.. you don't see me wearing all black and chains and black lipstick and i certainly don't do drugs..

i think its durab when people say music affects someone.. it only affects the people who are screwed up in the mind to begin with..

i listen to metallica, motorhead, iron maiden... stuff like that, it makes me feel happy, even if its summat depressin, and its not the music that got me in2 booze n drugs its my m8 sarah lol stoner

I love the psychadelic experiance, I listen to some music and not pay attention to it, more or less I let it lull me over, trying to listen and pay attention distracts me from the experiance it could have.

But in saying that, I love being andrenalised by some music. System is a good example, as is Rage. Some music makes me feel invincible. Which is strange.

i would have to say that i listen to various music depending on my mood, meaning that i'm already in that perticular mood and i listen to music that coresponRAB with it....when i'm feeling chirpy i'll listen to some hot hot heat or chemical brothers, when i'm feeling tired or down, i'll listen to coldplay or travis, when i'm pissed off i'll listen to ATDI or RATM.....so, i would say that music can't affect me in the way that it changes my mood....i'm already in it...

My music varies greatly on my mood. Some will change my mood, but mostly for the positive. For example listening to someone fast an heavy when pissed off will put me into a better mood. Listening to Primus will without fail send me hypo. Ska can have the same effect although it can help me chill out and relax to.
