how much should i spend on a used kawasaki ninja 250?

i want to buy a motorcycle and i have heard the ninja 250 is a great bike so could you please tell me how much should i spend on it.
the year doesnt really matter for me it can be 2003 to 2008. i saw some of them online and i didnt like the older models body. i just want something not too expensive to go to school
 
It depends entirely on age and condition. A really really nice one, nearly new, I'd say about $3000 (US).

If you only need transportation to go to school and around town, you might also consider a scooter. A Japanese scooter is just as long-lived and reliable as a motorcycle, but easier to learn to ride because they have automatic transmissions.

If it -has- to be a motorcycle, you might look at some 500s, like Suzuki GS500. They're no more expensive than a 250, and not that much bigger or heavier.

Remember you need to buy gear and insurance is higher unless you've taken a motorcyclist safety and learning course.
