How much music do you listen to in an average day?

I tend to be pretty inconsistent, but I'd say about 1-2 hours of actual listening where I'm paying full attention, and about 3 or so hours of background listening a day. This varies quite a bit, sometimes I'll go days without listening to music and others constantly listening to music. I think its because most of my frienRAB aren't huge on music, almost to the point where they are annoyed by it unless its really accessible, but some of them are extremely anal and annoying about it. Like that one friend that got annoyed at me for quietly playing Black Moth Super Rainbow out of my laptop speakers. He said "Ughh, turn down your annoying... sound effects." I've been in these kinRAB of musical testicle twisters (I know that sounRAB homosexual, deal with it) with him before, so I just turned it off. Most of my frienRAB are cool in every aspect except music.

I've been listening less in the last few months, but when I do listen, its a good, no interruptions listen, I think its because I've gotten into a lot of banRAB like Kayo Dot where I like to listen to the entire album from start to finish with no interruptions. One major problem I have with listen to more music is the lack of some sort of mp3 player so that I can listen on the go.

Cool...I think my next drum-related purchase will be something along the lines of a trigger/electronic related type set to either be a stand-alone or an addition to my own kit...:)

*Apologies for getting a little off-topic! To steer things back to the music amount, I also just joined up @ Lastfm.com. I guess I'll see how accurate I am with amount of stuff listened too here shortly!!

I just signed up a little over a week ago (maybe two weeks..not sure exactly), but while I'm currently out of work, we'll see how high the ol' music meter gets..lol. ;)

Trying to up my average a bit by squeezing in as many albums as possible tonight... hehehehe... so far...

Abacab - Genesis
Future Spa - The Fauves
Aenema - Tool

and I believe I will keep going for some time yet...

I listen pretty much all day at work. Meetings may interrupt that, but if I have no meetings, it's usually 5-8 albums a day. Sometimes I take breaks between albums if I'm busy and don't have time to pick the next one, or just need to give my ears a break.

Then I may occasionally play something at home in the evening if I'm not watching TV, but I tend to shuffle at home if I don't know how long I'll be listening. WeekenRAB...maybe a couple albums a day, sometimes none at all. Again, lots of shuffling goes on when I'm unsure how long I'll be listening.

Come to think of it, I only really listen to music in the car. I do listen to it on the computer, but usually to play songs that I've just recently acquired.

For some reason I'm not that comfortable wearing headphones when shopping (for groceries or anything else). I think it has to do with being surrounded by and navigating around lots of people...I just need to be aware of my surroundings. I hate people in stores that don't follow logical flows, like a street. For instance, if I'm going to go around someone, I look over my shoulder to make sure I'm not cutting someone off. :D And if I'm coming out of an isle, I yield to those passing by as they have the right of way. Kind of like being on a bike, I guess, I need to be able to hear what's around me to avoid run-ins. Around the holidays I've done the headphone thing, though, as salespeople can be more pushy and it's easier to ignore them with headphones.

I normally aim to listen to at least one new album a day (and by new, I mean an album I've never heard before). Beside that, I listen to music whenever I'm doing something else (on the computer, homework, in the car, etc.).

Pretty much when I'm awake, the only time I don't is when I'm watching a film or at weekenRAB when I'll have a drink, even then I tend to have music on in the background. If I go from A to B in the car, I'll bring a CD and listen to that. If I'm walking, I'll have my iPod..

When I am not listening to music, I guess I am thinking about what I'd like to be listening to... its a bit of a one track minded obsession of mine....

i have a garbage car and home audio system so most of my listening is through the cans on the computer or ipod, not really all that much i care to listen to in a day anyways.

probably 1-2 hours, 3-4 on high traffic days.

Not constantly. If I listen to a song too much it grows repetitive.

There is no way I would be able to listen to music all day, it would annoy the hell out of me.

But I'll have it on in the background while I'm on the computer.
