How many ride without the crash bar?

From first hand experience - I have to disagree with that, i get that they are intended to NOT be crash guiards and should be called engine guards, but I don't buy that they will fold over like noodles if your going ove 5mph.

Saw my buddy lose control and lay it down going 45 into a turn up the mountains of Arizonia / Nevada last year on a rented 07 glide- we all had rented them from eagle rider.

That bike slide for 40 feet until it slammed into the guard rail at speed. Took 6 of us to get it out of the guard rail and standing backup.

The side that hit the ground, never bent and saved my buddies leg. The top side that slammed into the guard rail did bend over.

It took the six of us, but we managed to bend it back enough to have the floorboard come back down and make it usable. My bud hopped on it and we rode the next 150 miles to Vegas that night.

It's a choice but the hitting while cornering line is lame IMHO if you want to corner like a sport bike buy a sport bike. I have to remember that I'm not riding my Bonnie and not lean over while corning too much. Have seen exhaust hit and pegs but when your ridding with forward controls it's not a sport bike.

Laid my bike down today (Eglide) saved the whole bike. Just scraped the bar. No bending at all.
Bag protectors saved the bags and have just a very small scratch on them.
Im banged up a little but nowhere close to what have might have been without the bars. Im keeping the bars.....

I don't have any engine guards. I bought this bike and someone had taken them off. I don't care either way as they tend to bend the frame if you go down hard. Not that the bike wouldn't be screwed up anyway. I would like them for the hwy pegs though. I need those damn it.
