From first hand experience - I have to disagree with that, i get that they are intended to NOT be crash guiards and should be called engine guards, but I don't buy that they will fold over like noodles if your going ove 5mph.
Saw my buddy lose control and lay it down going 45 into a turn up the mountains of Arizonia / Nevada last year on a rented 07 glide- we all had rented them from eagle rider.
That bike slide for 40 feet until it slammed into the guard rail at speed. Took 6 of us to get it out of the guard rail and standing backup.
The side that hit the ground, never bent and saved my buddies leg. The top side that slammed into the guard rail did bend over.
It took the six of us, but we managed to bend it back enough to have the floorboard come back down and make it usable. My bud hopped on it and we rode the next 150 miles to Vegas that night.
