...awareness? I understand the Hopi Indians used a cactus and monks in Asia have used poppy's. Just wondering what other groups in the world have used psychoactive plants to create altered states, that you might know?
Ah right Rastafarian is a good example. Any others? Druids? Wiccans?

RASTAS
(rastafarians)

Opium - Confucianism
Cannabis - Hinduism
Entheogen - Ancient Greeks
Mushrooms (Shrooms) - Zen Tibetans
Cocaine - Islam
Mescaline - Oshara Native Americans

there are a lot more
I guess Religious people are stoners? lol

Probably most ancient people did. Tobacco was widely used. Some varieties actually do have compounds that are halucinogenic. Many ate psycadelic mushrooms. Marijauna was used for thousands of years from Turkey to China. Cocaine was ingested by South American natives that chewed on Coca leaves. The Ya̧nomamo put some green vine up their noses. Opiates have been used for thousands of years. Khat is used in Arab countries and Africa. It would probably be harder to find some culture that never had access to some psychoactive drug.
